In a rush?! Don't miss our guide to delicious Thai food in Asheville. Good Morning, We enjoyed a gorgeous trip to Greenville, SC while getting my GI infusion. With temps in the 70's, it felt like a glimpse of spring. I'm here for it. I had to share these great places we visited: Us at Gather GVL (and pink mocktail below), Tom at A20, and Curean's charcuterie menu
Best Thai Food In Asheville (& A Note On Fake Bloggers and AI)Even writing about Thai food makes me hungry. We order a lot of Thai takeout. I originally wrote this post in January 2021 with a few updates (one of the first out there) - but it was pillaged and plundered by copycat and AI bloggers trying to make a quick buck on ads. Sigh. It's only getting worse with more funding going toward unregulated AI. Watching my good/ethical/real blogging friends throw in the towel is gutwrenching. AI overviews and stolen content devastate businesses like mine. Just know here at Uncorked Asheville, we eat the food, do the things, and write from our hearts; we didn't create our site mimicking and stealing someone else's (yes, that happens a lot). This is why even if I look like the Walking Dead, I try to ensure we are in a few photos. Sometimes, I don't care if there are typos because that shows you we are human. *And please be careful on Facebook; a lot of those very large "Growing up or History in North Carolina"-like groups are run by fake admins... locked profiles from accounts not in the U.S. trying to swindle some cash with Facebook's engagement incentives (and loads of stolen content; mine included). It's getting so bad. Don't "donate" to the one quilt that has been shown by twenty different people with a ridiculous URL with proceeds going nowhere near NC... I just saw a fake AI photo saying "This is Chimney Rock" with a rock in the shape of a chimney.* Rant over, so... 🍛 From your favorite noodle dishes to healthy/fresh rolls, Thai fried onion rings, and the best soups, these are just a few of our favorite Thai food places in Asheville, NC: Pad See Ew & Pad Thai from Bee Thai Kitchen, Pad Thai from Pad Thai Asheville, and a takeout fresh roll from Suwana's
Spotlight On Two Delicious RestaurantsOoofff, Helene put life on pause for a lot of us, so I wanted to point out two new(er) restaurants from last fall that we finally made it to and loved: Maguro in Downtown AshevilleTom said Maguro might be his favorite sushi restaurant in Asheville, NC. It was that good. Choose from ramen, sushi, noodles, tapas, and more. It’s a large restaurant with great service next to White Duck Taco and across from Curate. Afterward, we dipped over for dessert and coffee at Old Europe. Old Europe is such a staple.
Juancho's Fonda in South AshevilleTom and I tried Juancho's Fonda, a Colombian restaurant on Sweeten Creek Road. We both ordered the Lechon Al Horno (their write-up: roasted pork, veggie rice, arepa, avocado, and plantain). I loved my papaya juice with almond milk. Everything on the menu is gluten-free. My mouth is watering thinking about going back. It's a very unassuming, casual spot. In the same plaza, Retro Coffee is super cozy with delicious drinks and local treats. I had to get some cardamom buns from Back Porch Baking Co. They have a little free library inside too.
